The Senior Java Developer Lead will be responsible for building and maintaining a large collections of Java applications. This includes anything between complex groups of back-end services and their clients. Primary responsibility will be to design and develop applications, and to coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of infrastructure.


Candidate must have strong leadership, communication and technical skills as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.  The ability to handle aggressive timelines is a must.



  • Translate application user stories and use cases into functional applications
  • Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java applications
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality and responsiveness of the applications.
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and device solutions to the problems
  • Work with the security team to maintain code quality and best practices in application security
  • Mentor junior developers to improve their skill set


  • Must have in-depth and hands-on Java experience.
  • Working knowledge of Red Hat and other Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent understanding of JBoss, Hibernate, Spring, Struts,, JSP, JUnit is required.
  • Understanding of MVC frameworks, JDBC, WS*, and RESTful based services.
  • Understanding of best security practices in building secure applications.
  • Basic understanding of JVM and its limitations, weaknesses and workarounds.
  • Familiarity with build tools such as Maven and Gradle
  • Familiarity with continuous integration.
  • Experience with agile development is a plus.
  • Understanding of creating web based applications.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable making day-to-day decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Degree in Computer Engineering or the equivalent, plus a minimum of 7 years in software engineering.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Database is a plus
  • Comfortable with best practices around Test Driven Design, source control management
  • Some experience with Performance testing
  • Understanding of proper use of unit testing
