  • Overview

    Our organization is looking for a Patient Advocate who can help inform and empower our patients when applying for co-payment assistance programs. The Patient Advocate will be responsible for offering the patients assistance by coordinating with  co-payment assistance programs to verify eligibility and coverage type, completing and submitting claims packet (HCFA, EOB) and maintaining awareness of claim status and benefit limits through routine calls and/or website follow-up with the co-payment assistance programs.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage outbound and inbound calls geared towards increasing access and awareness to co-pay assistance programs
    • Assist the patients in completing the program enrollment processes
    • Review patient co-pay assistance applications and invoices for accuracy and completeness
    • Act as the support person for patients or co-workers that have any questions regarding co-pay assistance inquiries
    • Respond to patient requests for a review of their eligibility, benefits and act quickly on outstanding inquiries
    • Maintain contact with the co-pay assistance program offices, physicians and patients to try and resolve eligibility and billing issues as quickly as possible
    • Monitor patient payment activities and report any significant issues to management
    • Meet established departmental goals for patient enrollment and co-pay program collections

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years’ experience in medical billing, claims processing and/or processes that support patient experiences
    • Ability to operate patient billing systems for the purposes of reviewing and updating a patient’s account history, invoice statuses and total balances.
    • Beginning to Intermediate Excel skills including filters, sorting and basic calculations
    • Excellent time management skills
    • Ability to work independently and autonomously while demonstrating achievement of productivity and performance targets including calls/day, claims billed/day, dollars collected/month.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail required
    • Maintains a positive attitude
