    The Defect Manager - Business Technology Operations is responsible for implementing defect management processes and procedures, assessing management needs, and implementing plans to guide the Business Technology (BT) organization to a mature defect management process. As a leader in the BusinessTechnology organization, you will be responsible for supporting managerial, operational and administrative items across the Software Development Lifecycle. You will work closely with the Director of BT Management and Operations as well as leaders across BusinessTechnology with a focus on improving quality, efficiency, and effectiveness as it relates to Defect Management. 

    Responsibilities

    • Developing, implementing, and maintaining internal defect management policies, procedures and associated training plans
    • Ensure defects are properly assigned, follow up on defect that need additional action and ensure SLAs are being adhered to
    • Work with a cross-functional teams to triage and escalate defects
    • Organize and lead defect resolution meetings (including after-hours support and weekend work when necessary)
    • Design, generate and maintain metrics, reporting and trend analysis related to Defect Management
    • Performs root-cause analysis identify improvements to the Defect Management process
    • Assisting with the definition and documentation of new defect/release processes and procedures
    • Conducting research on process improvement
    • Ensure software policies and procedures remain current and up-to-date
    • Identify and understand issues/opportunities with business-technology process and collaborate on mitigation plans, short-term and long-term solutions
    • Responsible for providing detailed, accurate and timely updates related to Defect Management activities to all stakeholders including but not limited to the Business Technology leadership team
    • Provide backup support / coverage for Release Management activities when required

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent experience plus a minimum of 8 years working in information technology or related experience. 
    • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools (JIRA experience required). 
    • Experience with the Systems Development Life Cycle and Managing IT functions is required along with proficiency in MS Office Applications.  
    • Superior management, note taking and follow-up skills required. Meeting management and effective written and oral communication skills also required.
    • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.
    • Strong focus on process, process improvement and quality
    • Experience with an iterative, agile and/or waterfall approach to software development and project management
