Overview

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Business Development, the Area Vice President of Business Development is responsible for top line revenue generation with commercial and Medicare Advantage regional and national health plans, employer groups, ACOs, major health systems, and/or other risk-bearing entities. The ideal Area Vice President of Business Development has a track record in developing and fostering strategic relationships with key constituents and/or buyers, developing strategic growth plans, and negotiating/closing contracts

Responsibilities

  • Proactively and aggressively manage customer acquisition process, from cold outreach (email, phone, social media) to pitch presentation to opportunity sizing, pricing, and relationship development for book of business and/or target list / territory.
  • Manage the entire end-to-end sales process, from lead generation to pipeline management through deal execution and implementation consultation.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales quota; achieve budgeted revenue and gross margin goals for the business while operating within policies and procedures.
  • Actively engage the market to broaden the CareCentrix brand exposure, facilitate understanding of our value proposition, generate sales leads, foster ongoing relationships, and understand industry conditions and competitive activities.
  • Manage top of funnel lead-gen activities, including conferences, cold outreach (email, phone, social media), and collaborating with marketing team and/or with strategic partners on specific campaigns.
  • Provide oversight and centralized management of all internal deliverables pertaining to sales efforts and ongoing potential prospects. This can include managing detailed follow up on high volumes of information and medical claims data/detail.
  • Work collaboratively alongside medical economics to have an efficient, high-quality savings analysis and pricing process, where applicable.
  • Adhere to tight discipline of sales operations: Salesforce CRM proficiency and application, strategic and disciplined prospecting, in-depth understanding of product portfolio and strategic applicability to target list / territory.
  • Channel customer/prospect feedback from the market to systematically inform marketing, product and operational counterparts across the company.
  • Internally: identify, partner with, and cultivate relationships with stakeholders across functions and levels, including sales strategy, medical economics, product, account management, and business development team, to form a strong, mutually supportive, efficient, and effective business team.
  • Externally: establish, build and maintain strong relationships with all customers and stakeholders across functions, from day-to-day procurement to C-suite.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years in an externally-facing health care environment such as health plan, health plan delegated vendor, health system or provider, healthcare technology, or healthcare consulting.
  • Previous experience with high-pressure, complex sales execution including complex contract negotiation.
  • Proven ability to navigate a matrixed environment by leveraging strong relationship and influencing skills.
  • Track record of reaching/exceeding sales goals.
  • Experience cultivating, developing and expanding business relationships.
  • Excellent listening and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with SalesForce, Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Executive presence.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Travel as needed.
